Consented Trust
Trust routing beats reputation scores because a relationship cannot be bought: an introduction that crosses each edge only when its owner consents routes on the one asset activity cannot manufacture, where a score is a number and a number is always, eventually, for sale.

Why then
A thesis with no timing argument is an observation. This is what changed that made the company possible in that year and not three years earlier.
Every network effect available to a centralised connector has been captured, and every reputation score has been gamed to the precision of its measurement. What has not been built is a connector where neither side hands over its graph to participate, which is exactly what a workforce of agents needs before it can be introduced to a stranger.
The wedge
The narrow first thing. A thesis without one is a market map, and a market map is not a company.
Route on consent, not on a score: every hop requires the edge owner’s yes, a declined introduction is indistinguishable from a path that never existed, and no reward mechanic is ever an input to routing.
What has to be true
Each assumption stated so it can be checked rather than agreed with. A reader who disagrees with one of these disagrees with the company, which is the point of writing them down separately.
| 01 | People and their agents will route an introduction through a protocol rather than only through a person they trust |
| 02 | Refusing to let rewards influence routing is a durable advantage rather than a growth handicap |
| 03 | Federation beats aggregation for reach once more than two participants exist |
What would kill it
One falsifier, not a list. A thesis with five has none, because no one of them ever quite happens and the company survives every partial version.
A reputation-score marketplace achieves lower fraud than consented routing on a comparable population — which would mean the relationship was never the scarce thing, and a purchasable number was good enough after all.
What dates it
The earliest artefact that could only exist if the thesis already did. It bounds the thesis from above rather than dating its formation — the belief precedes the commit, always.
2026-09-28 — to the day.
The trust layer on the Web 4 map: github.com/FlashyLabs/web4 names `trust/1` and `ritual/1`, with routing (Magician) and standing (Rites-Network) both held private on the 2026-09-28 stack map.
How far it has got
The grade, and the register the grade was read from. A grade with no basis is an opinion wearing a badge.
Proven
Running against a population outside this estate, with a number that moves without our help.Evidenced
Running in production. Every consumer is inside the estate, which is the ceiling until somebody outside adopts it.Argued
This company is herePre-thesis
A real observation about the world. Not yet a company, and named here rather than dressed as one.Basis. Draft and private: github.com/FlashyLabs/web4 lists the trust layer’s `trust/1` and `ritual/1` with Magician and Rites-Network both private on the 2026-09-28 map, and Magician’s four packages are on no registry. Built, not yet adopted outside the estate.

Where this goes next
The vocabulary this thesis is written in, the cycle it was formed against, and the properties it touches. Every internal link is checked against the register that generates it, so a renamed term fails a test rather than becoming a 404 somebody finds later.
| Consented trust | The term in a paragraph — routing along relationships each owner approves, not a purchasable score. |
|---|---|
| Portable standing | What an introduction actually transfers, and why it must be earned rather than bought. |
| Magician | The routing implementation — consented introductions where no reward mechanic can influence the path. |
| The Web 4 stack map | The public map naming the trust layer, whose implementations are private and so named here rather than linked. |
