Machine door
A machine door is the standard entry point a site publishes for agents — a well-known surface stating who to speak to, what may be asked, and how, so a stranger’s agent can transact without a human first negotiating access.
Every site had a front door for people. It now needs one for their agents.
The human web taught sites to publish a homepage, a contact page and a robots file. The agentic internet asks for the equivalent aimed at software: a predictable path a visiting agent reads to learn the one named human behind the property, the intents it will accept, and the shape of a request that will be answered.
The business shape is a familiar one. A door that every site needs, that is cheap to run and expensive to be without, is the position a content-delivery network held on the human web — and the studio’s view is that the gateway is the same kind of position on this one. The risk it prices is that a major CDN ships an agent door as a default feature and the standalone product has no room; the estate builds the open protocol first for exactly that reason.
